Rescue Reynold's House

Donation protected
Times are tough.

Today I had the good opportunity to meet with my  friend Jeffrey Tuper- Giles (at a nice social distance, of course). While he was his usual cordial, mildly cheerful self on the surface, I could tell something was wrong.

You see, both Jeffrey and his husband, Eric, are always going out of their way to help other people, to beautify the greater Barre area with music, a gathering, or some other plan that one or the other of the two have helped to put together. They are always one of the first to offer assistance to someone who they see in need.

At the same time, neither of them ever thinks to ask for assistance when they are in need, and, right now, like so many others, they need our help.

About three years ago, the two worked out a deal to rent the well-known Reynolds House, which had been damaged due to a fire, with the goal of eventually purchasing the property. Jeffrey and Eric had a rather ambitious plan to open and run their own bed and breakfast. Little did they, about the time that all of the renovations were completed, that a pandemic would change the face of not only business in Vermont, but of life all over the world.

The two have now found themselves with a brand-new bed and breakfast- reminiscent of a bygone era- in which very few guests are able to stay, due to travel restrictions and safety protocols. (Check it out here )

The savings that they had set aside has all but dried up. They are doing what they can to scrape by for as long as they can, hoping to survive until restrictions are lifted and the number of guests who can come to the B&B will increase.

So I asked them for their permission to help, and they consented. True to their nature, the one caveat that they asked was that they be able to give back, too.

Jeffrey and Eric, as proud as they are, are in need of our help: to keep the lights on, to help pay the rent, and to keep this property that they so lovingly renovated, restored, and made a home-away-from-home for those who wish to stay. (Schedule your stay now)

Please give generously to help these two wonderful, talented people. $13,500 is only a drop in the bucket, but it will help them out enough to give them some hope during this holiday season, covering utilities and part of the rent for a few months or so.

Any amount will help.

To say thank you for your generosity, Eric and Jeffrey want to offer-should you be interested- these thank you gifts:

up to $50: A thank you on social media, and undying thanks

$51-$124: A Cleora's mug and 20% off your next visit

$125-$249: A free booking (1 room, 2 guests)

$250-$500: A free weekend booking (2 guests)

$500+: Special package tailored to you (upon speaking with Jeffrey and Eric)
