Resas car

On Friday the 31st of July, something unthinkable happened. Theresa and I were travelling to Adelaide when we heard a loud clunk, much like a log hitting the underside of the car. A few seconds later, I felt the front of the car drop and then heard a scraping noise. The car veered to the left and despite my efforts to slow down and maintain a straight line, the steering wheel did not respond. We still don't know for sure what caused this to happen, but the end result was flipping the car end to end and landing backwards in amongst the gum trees.

Miraculously, neither of us were badly injured, and escaped with only a few bruises and cuts from broken glass. I was kept overnight at the Meningie hospital for observation as I had some pain which the doctors were concerned may have been my spleen. The general consensus now is that it's just a rib and I should be fine.

Thanks to the wonderful staff at the Meningie hospital, we were able to get a lift to Tailem Bend, and from here where I'm writing this, we will catch a taxi and then a bus to Adelaide. We were having a weekend away to celebrate Theresa's birthday but obviously this has all been turned upside down (quite literally). This is my fourth major car accident and the third write off. The others were all caused by kangaroos. On one hand I could be the unluckiest person around, but I feel I'm also very lucky to have survived accidents before, and again this time.

Now to the reason for a gofundme:

Theresa no longer has a car, and the car back home that I normally drive does not have air bags. I don't know how many lives this cat has left and I don't want myself or my partner to take risks driving old bombs any more. We might be able to claim some medical expenses, but Theresa's car was not insured.

Our plan is to hopefully find a suitable car in Adelaide to replace hers, but if not we will take a bus home and borrow one from a relative in the mean time. I'm normally too proud to ask anyone for help, but this was my partners car, the day after her birthday on the way to our first little getaway in a long time.

If you could spare some money to help us find a safe replacement for the Rav, we would be forever grateful.

Jake.
