Replacing Dave

You see here in the picture my un-trusty steed Dave, who died on the highway a mere three-ish weeks after I bought him. He died in every way possible, with a broken timing belt bringing the death knell but a burnt engine, bad breaks, and busted suspension close behind. So in addition to parting with the funds initially used to purchase Dave, I now need to purchase another car. 

Added to this, my passport was stolen in transit from America! Because of the delay this caused, my shipping container ended up being in storage in Lisbon for a month, causing another unexpected multi-thousand dollar expense. 

I am asking for help because I am now wary of purchasing a cheap, used car (€1850) when I need reliable, safe transportation to begin teaching violin to children here in Algarve, Portugal (+/- €4200). The two events, plus the dismal housing market in Fairfield County that led to the house being rented instead of sold, have really created a pinch for me financially to be able to purchase trustworthy transportation. 

So please consider helping me now, no amount is too small! Those of you who know me know I dislike asking for help, so you know if I am asking I really need it. If I, or my music, my teaching or community volunteerism have brought joy to your life, please consider tossing a few dinheiro my way to help me get around safely in my new home. I'm not asking for help with the whole cost, just to cover the gap between what I feel I can afford and what I need to spend to get a reliable car.
