Help Repair a Damaged Palestinian School in Gaza

Have you ever had to worry about your or your child’s safety going to school?

Have you or your child ever been prevented from attending school because it is too dangerous and unsafe?

Sadly, this is the reality of countless Palestinian children in Gaza. In May 2021, more than fifty schools in Gaza were damaged by Israeli airstrikes. This has put education out of reach for thousands of children in Gaza as their sites of learning, optimism, play and fun are destroyed and their hope for a better future diminished.

We, at The Sacred Land Initiative have organised a fundraising campaign in collaboration with Muslim Student Associations and Youth Organisations across Australia and in partnership with Human Appeal Australia to raise  $50,000 to repair one of the many damaged schools in Gaza, Palestine. 

Madrasah Shuhada’ Al-Shujaeia

Madrasah Shuhada’ Al-Shujaeia is a Palestinian school right at the edge of the eastern border of Gaza. As a result, it was in very close firing range for both tanks & missiles and that is why it is one of the most damaged schools along the Gaza strip.

The bulk of the damage to the school was caused by a missile which went straight through the verandah and through multiple rooms of the main school building. This caused significant damage to the core infrastructure of the building and has compromised the building’s integrity and prevented students from attending the school for many weeks. Students will not be able to return to school until repairs are made to the hazardous and unsafe structure.
