Reopen the Vali 3

The Vali 3 Theater is a pivotal economic institution for the downtown Monte Vista area. Our mission is to bring modern culture to our small town and provide a safe, fun and accessible environment for local youth and families to see interesting movies and socialize.
Although the building is owned by the City of Monte Vista, the Vali Theater Advisory Board is working to get our own non-profit status and operate the theater in a way that keeps it affordable and fun for all citizens of the San Luis Valley!
COVID-19 closures dealt a serious monetary blow to the theater, we have been unable to open since March of 2020. When the state allowed us to reopen on a limited basis and we prepared to reopen, we found out a recent power surge had dealt a serious blow to our projector, causing the need to replace a $30,000 part or replace the entire projector for $33,000.
In 2019 we also received a donation of performancelighting equipment from the Creede Repertory Theatre. We hope to also get enough money to repair or replace our projector, but also to do the minor renovations necessary to turn one of the open theater spaces into a performance space for local artists and directors, including local youth organizations.
