Re'Nyiah's Prosthesis, Medical, and School

My name is Re'Nyiah Ford.  In January 2019, fifteen days before my SWEET 16th birthday, I was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma Cancer in my left femur bone. My friends enjoyed their sweet 16 participating in all types of exciting life activities and fun travel, while I spent my sweet 16 fighting for my life with Cancer.  An entire year filled with Kaiser Oncology appointments or rushed to Children's Hospital emergency room. I know that God helped me to make it through 10 rounds of chemotherapy treatments, long term feedings through a tube in my nose because I was so skinny with no appetite to eat, and recover from 6 surgeries that sadly ended in my leg being amputated.  I thank God for helping me and keeping me alive.  I am glad to be getting stronger. I hope to be active again soon.  I want to play with and take care of my dog Prince again.  I am ready to dance, sing, cheer, model, run track, and step again. My favorite colors are purple, gold, and black.  I am ready to draw and write songs.  My favorite foods are shrimp alfredo pasta, Chick-fil-a sandwhich and fries , Popeye's  Chicken strips, and my mom's cheesy macaroni and cheese.  I am looking forward to a normal appetite again.  My favorite school subject is Science. When I graduate high school, I plan to go to college to become a Veterinarian.  I want to attend Florida A&M University or University of Maryland College Park.

My biggest hope is to be able to get my prosthetic leg very soon.  When I do get my prosthetic leg, one of my goals is to return to school and work hard to recover missed credits due to my health condition that  lasted into two school years.  I really want to graduate on time with my class.  Another goal is to participate in a running marathon for Childhood Cancer with my mentor Loren.  Loren volunteers with The Still Brave Cancer Organization.  The organization supports children suffering with cancer.  My last but not least goal is to complete my Girl Scout Gold Award.  As part of my Gold Award project, I want to pay it forward and help encourage young girls battling with cancer. I am looking forward to a healthy bright future. I want to make proud my family and all who have truly helped me.

I appreciate everything that has been done for me. It really feels good to know that others think enough of me to help me through my illness. I am thankful for my church prayers and encouragement, my Girl Scout Troop support and love, my school home and hosptal teaching, and my doctors, nurses, and therapists time and knowledge that helped me to get better.

Your donation will help me to pay for contining medical related expenses for my prosthetic leg, medicine, therapy and training, intensive tutoring and credit recovery academic programming, and transportation to and from. I pray that God continues to bless and allow you to be a blessing for others in need.  THANK YOU!
