Rental Assistance Fund for Tenants

Donation protected

On March 24, 2020 effective midnight, Alachua County Chair Robert Hutchinson and City of Gainesville Mayor Lauren Poe ordered Alachua County to shelter in place and stay at home. Only essential businesses could be open, and only essential errands should take you away from home. Since then, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has ordered the entire State of Florida to do the same for 30 days beginning April 3, 2020.

We are confident that we will get through this situation but the question becomes what does that look like on the other side. We believe as property owners and landlords we can pull our resources together to help those in need. By doing so we are all stronger when this situation comes to a close.  It is in all of our best interest to forgo a bit of income so we all don’t experience two to six months of lost rent handing evictions for the foreseeable future. We need to keep struggling families in their homes to keep our economy going once this crisis comes to a close.

Bosshardt Property Management, LLC is proposing that all property owners as well as friends and family give one of the following to our Rental Assistance Fund:

1.    $500.00 to the rental assistance fund for Bosshardt Property Management, LLC.

2.    $250.00 to the rental assistance fund for Bosshardt Property Management, LLC.

3.    $100.00 to the rental assistance fund for Bosshardt Property Management, LLC.

These funds will go to those tenants who are in need of our help.  We are requiring applicants to submit a request in writing detailing their hardship.  When they complete the application and verification of hardship, we will give equal amounts of rent relief to those applicants who apply and qualify.  We will give every applicant the same amount of relief depending on the amount of funds we are able to raise. The first round of relief will be tallied on April 15th.

If you are one of our property owners, and you would prefer not to go through the Go Fund Me account, we can make the process a little simpler. Just email us the amount you would like to donate and we can process a payment from your owner account internally. If you have a family or friend who would like to give during this crisis and would like to know exactly where their funds are going – I can’t think of a better way than to help our local Gainesville Community.

Our goal is to keep as many Gainesville residents in their homes as possible.  We want them to focus on getting back to work and getting our economy going once we have gotten through this pandemic.  We are all going to be impacted by the effects of COVID-19 but if we don’t help our neighbors the outcome will become much worse for all of us in the long term.  Many restaurants, bars, theme parks, hotels, etc. have been closed. Gainesville does not run without the help of all of these valuable workers. Our economy depends on them to be here and to thrive!

This is our time to step up and do something truly unprecedented.  Yes, there will be some government help but the citizens of the United States have always pulled together to make an impact that truly matters.  It is through government and public partnership that we will all get through the COVID-19 virus stronger than ever!

Please join me in helping our Gainesville neighbors!  We have created a GoFundMe account for you to share with friends and family as well.  Let’s keep our tenants in their homes!
