Renew Mark’s Strength

On Sept. 1, 2018, our dad, Mark Pranger, Sr.  (aka USMVMC Ghost-Rider) was on his motorcycle heading home on I-69. A truck crossed the center line and T-boned him at nearly 65 MPH. With the help of some guardian angels, he was kept alive long enough to be airlifted to St. Vincent’s trauma 1 center in Indianapolis. He spent 2 weeks in intensive care and almost another 2 in their ortho progressive unit. However, he still isn’t out of the woods. Next comes acute rehab, physical therapy, and countless visits to various doctors and medical professionals.

He suffered a number of severe injuries: broken vertebrae, broken right leg, organ damage, broken ribs and more. He will hopefully heal in time from those, but unfortunately his left leg was also crushed and had to be amputated above the knee. As you can imagine, this is a life altering injury.

Those of you who know him, know his passions of riding, bicycling, karate, hiking, and just being active in general. With his strong will, he will undoubtedly master and enjoy these again. The best aspect about Dad is his amazing attitude; he already wants to tackle his recovery… However, this has to be hard for even him to swallow (even if he doesn’t show it).

While our dad lost a lot that day, we know he would never personally ask for help. Despite that, it is becoming increasingly clear that he will need plenty of help through a long, extremely costly journey. Fortunately, there has been an outpouring of love and support. To make it simple, my siblings and I agreed to set up this page for an easy way to send well wishes. Donations will be used to help with any necessary home improvements, medical expenses, or miscellaneous expenses along the way to recovery.

We are so lucky to still have him in our lives. Please help us show how loved he is!
