Renee’s Rally

Renee Canada Davis is my 51-year-old, life loving, smile bringing, cancer fighting, mother.

My mom has worked her entire life. The last 6 years, she has been working full time for AGC in Elizabethtown. My mom is incredibly hardworking and raised my brothers and I to be just as hard working, strong, and independent as she is. My mom has always showed me how much better it feels to know that we EARNED something, rather than to just receive.

My mom is not the type to ever complain about any medical issues. To be honest, it’s always worried us how she stays silent and sweeps those things under the rug. Shortly after her 51st birthday in July of this year, my mom told me she was experiencing some discomfort and having issues with her bladder. After a few appointments, she was told that she had a prolapsed bladder and she was told what would need to be done surgically to correct it, but before they could perform the surgery they would have to do a standard scan to make sure there weren’t any potential risks already existing.

Fast Forward to September 13th, after several doctor’s appts, scans, biopsies, and consultations; my mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer. Her cancer is aggressive and has unfortunately spread beyond her breast to her lymph nodes, her bones, and it’s in her blood as well. With her cancer being so advanced, she’s no longer applicable to receive surgery or radiation. Her team of doctors/surgeons at the UofL Brown Cancer Center have said that she will be on chemo for the remainder of her life, in hopes that it will keep her cancer under control and pro long her time with us.

So far, my mom has received one round of chemo and it has been a miserable experience for her. Eventually, she will face the choice of quality vs quantity of life in regards to receiving chemo therapy. Regardless, my mom most likely will not be able to return to work.

My family has been shaken to the core by this nightmare that our mother is now facing as her every day reality. I know there are SO many people who have love for my mom and want to help and aid in her comfort during this difficult time. So, I’m starting this Gofundme for anyone that’s willing and able to contribute to Renee and her fight against Cancer.
