RenChorNY's: ISAAC's: Music for CHURCH and STATE

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Sig Rosen and again I ask you to support Three Choral CONCERTS of great Renaissance Masters. We thanked you for funding the Heinrich Finck Christmas Concerts, and now present his famous contemporary HEINRICH ISAAC (c.1445-1517), whose work for the Hapsburgs includes great Marian prayers as well as political prayers for Maximilian I and his realm. RenChorNY first recorded portions of his motets in our original (1959) LP of "Choralis Constantinus". We were honored to pioneer this revival, as each generation will learn anew the glories of the Renaissance, so we need your help in this ongoing quest; our part in the Early Music revival is documented here: https://www.renaissancechorus.org/index.html

This is the Concert SCHEDULE and REPERTOIRE:
We will present these masterworks:
Missa Carminum, the "Mass of Songs",
Virgo prudentissima, à6 (one of his "Kaiser Motets"),
O decus ecclesiae, `5 (a Marian fantasy based on the hexachord),
Tota pulchra es, from the "Song of Songs"

Dr. RICHARD PORTERFIELD will conduct the concerts on consecutive Saturdays in Manhattan:
*4 pm December 2, 2023
St. Johns in the Village
224 Waverly Place.
*4 pm December 9, 2023
The Shrine of St. Francis Cabrini 701 Fort Washington Avenue
*4 pm December 16, 2023'
Hudson View Gardens Lounge
128 Pinehurst Avenue at 183rd Street (Reception to follow)

Since our founder Harold Brown (1909-1979) died, I have been honored to share his research and legacy for our generation, so all will understand the spiritual and cultural significance, and artistic relevance for society. Our volunteer Singers share this commitment, but dues and admissions barely cover a third of the costs.

For this to succeed, in an era in which public funds are so needed in the material sphere, I will ask friends to share what they can to preserve this art.

We are grateful to engage expert musical direction, and professional section leader/soloists familiar with early music performance practices, expert editors who create modern editions, and need the normal administrative and printing and programming note/poster/mailing costs.

The Three venues are quite modest in rentals but significant to us in several ways.
The Village Church can access a younger/student group, The Shrine near the Cloisters can draw early music adepts- it is personally dear to us so we can share the proceeds with them for their Mother Cabrini Migrant Relief work. The Hudson View Gardens Lounge is particularly convenient for seniors in the residence.

We hope to be able to keep admission costs to a minimum, and free for students, so please be generous.

Thank you for your kind consideration.
