She tried to think of a solution. How could she bring students together in a supportive place where everyone can feel safe, secure, and seen? A place where all could be included.
With this vision, Daisy founded Including You, a peer mentorship organization that pairs volunteer student mentors with younger students who experience disparities due to economic disparities, learning differences, or developmental or physical disabilities. She wanted to create a space where students from all backgrounds could laugh and learn together.
To be as inclusive as possible, Including You hopes to provide an internet-enabled device to any child without access to one. Including You has already donated 25 Lenovo ThinkPad T440 computers and 20 mobile hotspots to students in the Mid-South through a partnership with Family Biz Builder of Tunica, Mississippi.
But Daisy wanted to do more. In her own city of New York, kids her age are being declared truant because they do not have working computers or internet services needed to attend class remotely. She started this GoFundMe campaign to help promote educational justice and digital inclusion for all students. She has begun giving laptops to NYC students who need them, and already, has been contacted by public school teachers throughout the city seeking working devices for their under-resourced students, many of whom have disabilities. With the proceeds from this campaign, Daisy hopes to help bridge the digital divide for as many kids as possible.
Thank you for your consideration.
