Remembering Dawn Wilcox Luck

Donation protected
It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of my beautiful mother, Dawn Wilcox Luck, on Sunday, January 15th, 2023. Dawn was a beloved mother, sister, and elementary school teacher. She was also an active member of every church she attended, the most recent being Calvary Chapel in Tucson, Arizona. She attended Kentucky Christian College and the University of Phoenix. Her kindness, generosity and inspiring faith and love for the Lord touched the lives of many- those in her classroom, those in her church, those in her family, and those in the community. She leaves behind her only daughter, April.

Dawn endured a five-year long battle with endometrial cancer at the end of her life, with the last two and half years being especially difficult after the cancer had returned and metastasized. Her battle was incredibly awe-inspiring as she went through her treatments with a profound level of strength and bravery, giving it to God and placing her trust in the Lord the entire time. She was still teaching after undergoing 6 rounds of chemotherapy treatments. Eventually, her cancer spread enough that she was no longer able to teach starting in 2021, and had to go on disability. She continued on with treatment through Cancer Treatment Centers of America, paying out of pocket for COBRA, her deductibles and copays. She has never been one to ask for help and largely used most of her savings to cover her medical bills, appointments, and cancer treatments. She had one major tumor in her right lung that began to block her bronchial airway, and this ultimately resulted in her hospitalization, embolization of the lung, and intubation before she went home to be with the Lord.

So many that loved Dawn and cared for her and her family have already reached out and asked how to help. We are currently asking for donations in honor of Dawn, to go toward her celebration of life. Donations will be used to support the family by allowing us to lay her to rest and give her the celebration of life she deserves- one that will pay tribute to what a wonderful, beautiful soul she was and the exemplary life she lead while she was still here with us on Earth. Dawn was never one to ask for help, and would tell me she was able to get by on what she had. However due to her long battle with cancer, being unable to work toward the end of her life, and continuous medical bills for procedures, treatments and hospitalizations, she did not have funds available that could go toward the celebration of her life.

All donations will be used toward mortuary services, a memorial service, place of burial, and headstone.

Please consider donating if you can and any amount will truly help. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity during this difficult time.

We will update this post once services are planned.
