The Story
Xander, a struggling young musician, comes across an experimental drug, rem, that allows him to relive his past memories. He goes on a journey to discover new things about his past as he tries to avoid dealing with the news of his mother in the hospital.
Who am I?
Hey everyone. My name is Eeshaan Roy and I'm a Masters Filmmaking Student at the New York Film Academy. I'm about to embark on this journey myself to make this coming-of-age short film about self-discovery.
This short film is very close to my heart. I believe in this fast paced world that we live in, rarely do we have time to stop and smell the roses and appreciate the little things. Barely do we stop for a second and truly understand why the poeple that are the closest to us do or say certain things that we don't agree with. We just move right along. And unfortunately, a lot of times, when we do start to understand, it becomes too late and we are left with nothing but regret. And regret is something I know we all absolutely do not like to have.
What is this all for?
With this short flim I want us all to stop and look around and understand the ones that are closest to us. To make time for the little things. To make renew troubled relationships. To try and have as little regrets as possible.
And to make this dream a reality, I would need your help. This would be my most challenging film that I've ever thought of making. From jumping from different years (because of the effect of "rem") that span over 3 decades to making original music to using visual effects. All these require months and months of careful planning and preparation. I've been working on the pre-production of this film since February, just so that the message that I want to share with everyone comes across in the most creative and unique way possible. This film could be a stepping stone for my career, as I plan to submit this short film to Film Festivals.
What is Rem?
Rem, is an experimental drug, that allows the user to travel back in their subconscious mind and relive and view any memory that they choose to. The Hippocampus in our brains are responsible for all of our short-term and long-term memories. This drug effects the hippocampus in a way that induces REM sleep instantaneously, causing the user to go back and visually see any experience of their past.
In this story, it is crucial for our protagonsist, Xander, to subject himself to using Rem, through which he discovers and learns things about his family and his past.
Why I need your help?
A film's finances can make it or break it. Lack of funding always holds filmmakers back from trying new things and experimenting to truly show the world what they see in their heads. Being a student, finances is definitely one thing that is very hard to arrange. That's why I need your help. You all can be my financeers. If most of you contribute even a little amount, that can add up to a lot that will go on to help the film.

I absolutely cannot do it alone. Filmmaking is a total collaborative medium. And without the support of my cast and crew I just cannot put my story on the big screen. My crew consists of highly qualified people from all over the world. From Spain, China, Russia, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Dominican Republic and of course USA, my crew brings their own professional experience from their countries to help me give life to my baby, my script.
How are we doing this?
We will be shooting on the RED SCARLET. We will be getting props and production design elements from Universal Studios. Filming in Los Angeles is definitely not cheap. The cost of locations take up most of our budget. A good location can add a lot more to the impact of the film. Make-up, sound, wardrobe and all the little details will make my amazing cast come to life in this film.

This short film is my final project for the first year of my film school. It will be premiered at the Warner Brothers Studios. I will be sending this film to Film Festivals after that. Some of the rewards available will allow you to view the film as soon as it is premiered at Warner Brothers. After that it will be online for everyone to watch.
