Relocating Squeaky’s

Hello my name is Orlena Wilkes one of the owners of Squeaky’s Cafe. I appreciate you taking the time to read our story. Our family has been hit hard financially the last couple of months. We opened Squeaky’s Cafe in November 2019 and we’ve been growing our business in the Downtown Historic Princess Anne MD. We survived Covid. We love our customers!!!

Last February we were asked to operate Squeaky’s in the Washington Inn because it was going up for sale and it would look better if it was opened and not closed. So my husband and I accepted the opportunity. We opened March 2023 and offered breakfast, lunch, brunch & dinner. We were also one of the first African Americans to obtain a Liqour license in Somerset County.

We were operating two locations until December 2023. We gave up our first location because our landlord told us he was purchasing the Washington Inn and that didn’t happen. So this left us with a month to month lease with the town. January of 2024 we received notice that our lease would not be renewed because the Washington Inn was going up for sale and we have to vacate in 60 days. This has been devastating for us. This is our livelihood and we’ve invested everything in our business.
