Please Help Relocate Marion’s Cilantro Thai

As a local Marion resident, I think I speak for all when I say how much I appreciate the service and quality of Marion’s Cilantro Thai.

The family who operates this restaurant have been nothing but kind and courteous over the years, which is why it pains me to hear of their current difficulties. Please help rally around our community and help soften this difficult time they are experiencing. I’ve done my best to summarize the situation for your awareness below:

At approximately 11:19 PM Sunday October 17th Fire/EMS responded to a reported structure fire on Front St. Upon arrival crews encountered a well involved fire on the second floor. Additional mutual aid companies from Wareham, Mattapoisett, and Rochester were requested. The fire was confined to the second floor after an interior attack by firefighters.

Due to water used to extinguish the fire, all first floor restaurant equipment has been rendered unsalvageable. The writing from the owner of Cilantro Thai broke my heart to read this morning:

”Today we got the permission to go inside the restaurant. We found that everything are damage from the water, especially all of the electrical equipment that cannot be reuse. The building will not be ready to use in any time soon. So, our best solution is to move on to a new place. Which we have found one suitable place that’s located in Marion. Unfortunately, we can’t take any thing out of the restaurant. As well as we have to renovate the new place. We have to start from zero. With these reasons, we’re facing a financial difficulty at the moment. So, we walked into Eastern Bank and asked for their help. And with little hope that we have left, we’re hoping that they will approve loan for our new restaurant. We hope that this solution will get us back to do our business soon.”
