Relief for Zak Holmes & family

Donation protected
Zak was in a motorcycle accident this past Saturday night at about 9:30. A woman made a move from a left lane in front of him and he hit the side of her car and went over the hood. She was arrested for OWI with great bodily harm. He suffered multiple brain bleeds, broken upper right arm, broken ribs, lacerated kidney. The brain bleeds were watched every 4 hours with CAT scans. By Sunday morning, they decided they were not increased enough to warrant concern, so they stopped the scans and also said no brain surgery was needed for those. He was heavily sedated and on a breathing tube. He could breathe on his own, but because of the sedation, they wanted to be sure he wouldn't forget to breathe.

Today (Monday) they took the breathing tube out but there is still one tube in so he's not talking yet. He has opened his eyes and Karyn says she thinks he understands when talked to and responds to nurses and doctors telling to move a thumb, or toes, or legs and such. So that is good news. He is still in ICU and will have to have surgery on his arm. Right now it is just in a splint. The kidney function seems to be ok too. It will be a long recovery, so keep him in your positive thoughts and prayers.

Those who know Zak know that he will fight with all he has to recover. But he needs your help.

Please consider any donation to help the family with medical and living expenses so Zak can get back to all the things he loves so much - coaching hockey, beer making, watching his kids activities, his wife and family, and just living his best life.
