Relief for Eagle del Caribe Lares Employees
Hurricane Maria made landfall as a Category 4 storm in Puerto Rico on September 20, 2017. More than 300 colleagues and their families from the Eagle del Caribe Lares facility in Puerto Rico need our help. We are aware of several employees who have completely lost their homes or who have sustained significant structural damage, lost belongings, and are facing day-to-day challenges due to lack of supplies.
The parent company of Eagle and its employees continue to send basic relief supplies to the island to assist employees and their families – including water, food, hygiene items, batteries, camp stoves, inflatable beds and portable showers.
This fundraiser has been organized by colleagues of Eagle del Caribe Lares to directly support the financial needs of employees and their families. For example, funds may be used for home repairs, temporary shelter, transportation, clothing, and other areas where there may be acute needs as a result of the storm.
We are working directly with Maria Cristina Suarez Abreu, the Eagle del Caribe Lares site leader, to help identify the needs of these employees. Maria Cristina Suarez Abreu has established a personal bank account to transfer the funds from Go Fund Me and to enable her to cut individual checks to employees who have completely lost their homes (at this time that number is 15 employees who have suffered total loss). Employees will verify through a form sent to Maria Cristina Suarez Abreu that they are employees and in this form they will document their loss.
Please consider a donation to support our fellow employees who are dealing with the devastating effects of Hurricane Maria.
This page will be updated as we learn more.
