Reid's Medical Funds

We are raising money to support the medical costs/treatments for Reid Byron Potter, born March 24, 2016. Reid is currently 10 months old and was diagnosed with Malignant Migrating Partial Seizures in Infancy due to a gene mutation, KCNTI on July 19, 2016.
There is not a cure and without further treatments, his life expectancy is 2 years from birth. Currently, he is receiving an experimental medication, Quinidine, which can cause severe side effects and even death, but has reduced the number of daily seizures from 70 to 30. The severity of the seizures still remains. Since this treatment is experimental, insurance does not cover it monthly, leaving high out of pocket costs.
Because of the seizures, Reid is unable to mentally or physically develop. He is unable to hold up his head, to use his arms or legs and cannot speak. An approval has been obtained for Charlotte’s Web, a medical marijuana treatment at a facility in Tampa. His first treatment is scheduled for April. Since time is of the essence, we are working diligently to move the timetable to February. The treatments are not covered by insurance and are expected to cost a minimum of $750 per treatment.
His doctors have recommended that Reid be evaluated at John Hopkins University in Bethesda, Maryland. A group of doctors at John Hopkins specialize in this rare disease and could offer a treatment that Reid desperately needs.
Due to the overwhelming cost associated with Reid’s ongoing treatments, including hospital bills in 2016 and travel and expenses for an anticipated trip to John Hopkins, a “GO FUND ME” account has been established.
