In November, I thought my dad went missing. I called several hospitals and the police, even searching the jail registries. My father was found, but to my shock, surmounting troubles had led him to the hospital, and his situation was just unfolding. My dad will now be on dialysis for the rest of his life. Social workers helped. Occupational therapists got him to be able to take a couple of steps on his own with a walker.
He will be independent, but with many modifications. As his helper now, I’ve:
Taken the duties of finding him a place for dialysis and finding ways to make our home and his home suitable for his disability. Currently, I am/he is in a huge financial crisis as we need to transition him from his current RV to a motor home. Some money may become available when he sells his Tennessee home, but that will not happen quickly enough and I need your help.
What I need to ask of you is, have you ever been in a situation like this before? What would you do to maximize the output of helping family members in a time of need? If you can spare any advice or any donations, please contact me. And, if you could share this page, I’d be forever grateful to you. -Megan
