Refugees Giving Refuge

We are a group of over 30 teenage refugees serving refugees. We are raising funds to build a medical tent for refugees at the Rhino Refugee Settlement camp in Arua, Uganda, where many of us were once received and cared for in similar camps.

We are excited to raise funds for our friends & countrymen back in Uganda!
We are eager to give back to our brothers & sisters that remain in refugee camps in Uganda. All the funds we raise together, with your help, will go towards the construction, supplies, staffing, & maintenance of the medical tent. We have been fortunate to have made it to the United States and want to give back in this small way. In addition to this GoFundMe campaign, we are volunteering our time at local businesses to help raise the funds ourselves, but we want you to share in our project & support refugees that can use a helping hand.

We are from the nations of Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Rwanda - just below the horn of Africa. We are refugees ourselves, who were received in Uganda or Tanzania, later making the journey west to the United States.
During our time in the refugee camps, many of us & our family members received care in medical tents just like the one we are raising funds to build. This effort is a token of our appreciation to those countries and to the volunteers who helped us along our journeys.

Withdrawl Plan

Once our campaign is over one of our youth leaders, Laurie England, will be withdrawing the donations and handing them over to Rober Kagavo. Robert is a member of our local congregation and has frequent interaction with many of the refugee camps where we came from. He will take the donations and work with local leadership to ensure the funds are used properly. Once of these projects include the construction of a soccer field with goals and other equipment at one of the camps. He can be reached at [email redacted] with any questions.
