The Reeves Black Girls Matter Scholarship

With the recent devastating events occurring this past week and the tragic and senseless killing of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and, most forgotten, Breonna Taylor, it is imperative now more than ever, that we come together in hope, love, solidarity but most importantly, ACTION. As a Black, cis-gender female educator teaching at an all girls 6-12 school, I have been filled with immense pain, confusion and sadness for the current world today. But among all else, a burning fire and passion for the light of tomorrow.
We have a collective responsibility to ensure Black students have that tomorrow we imagine.
In a way to amplify and empower our Black girls' futures, hopes and dreams, I am creating a scholarship for Black female identified/narratives who dream. A scholarship for Black female identified/narratives that aims to amplify their voices and affirm them as whole. #BlackLivesMatter is equally about fighting for the unjust murders of Black bodies just as much as it is the honoring of Black life, protecting Black youth and investing in Black futures.
100% of funds will be issued to graduating Black, female-identified/narrative seniors to be used for supplies and resources (including technology, college tuition and fees, room and board, transitioning cost, etc.) and advancement of post-secondary training and education.
Please offer what you can, share with your communities, your supervisors, your businesses, your family, etc. The power of collectivism is real and it is now.
My gratitude is endless.
