Rescuing Reem and Her Family from War in Gaza

I am fundraising for Girl Up leader, Reem Zidah and her family.

Reem's story, in her own words, below:

Hello, My name is Reem Zidiah, a 23 year old Palestinian girl lives in Gaza Strip. I was born here and witnessed 5 aggressions on the strip. And today I'm fundraising to save my family from the ongoing war in Gaza, helping them to get safety.

We had no idea that we'd lose everything and that our lives would change suddenly and forever. We found ourselves trapped in Gaza, enduring unimaginable hardships due to the ongoing war. My self, along with my father and mother and other siblings, have experienced displacement many times since the commencement of the war, and the situation is becoming increasingly desperate.

Forced to flee our home in the North of Gaza, then our residence was bombarded and demolished and reduced to rubble, I remember when we first knew about our house, we hesitated about how we were gonna tell my mother because she was waiting to go back to our house without losing any of us, she cried a lot and then said "So we'll have to start everything all over again!" and we have been seeking safety in temporary shelters, constantly moving in pursuit of refuge. Despite their efforts, we are now running low on essentials such as food, water, and other basic necessities. Additionally, our school was entirely destroyed during the bombings.

Our journey has been marked by fear and uncertainty, especially for children who have faced unimaginable horrors.

Currently, we urgently need assistance to escape to Egypt, where we can find safety and security. We require $5,000 for each adult and $2,500 for each small child to cover the costs of travel and relocation.

مرحباً للجميع، طبعاً الجميع يعلم عن مدى المعاناة التي نعيشها اليوم في قطاع غزة بسبب الحرب والإبادة الجماعية التي ترتكبها إسرائيل ضدنا، لكن ما لا تعرفونه أنه حتى وإن انتهت الحرب فنحن حياتنا قد تدمرت ولم لنا يتبقى شيء. يمكن أنه قصتنا تتشابه مع كتير قصص لانه كُل شخص له نصيب من هذه الحرب فهي لم تترك أحداً لم تمسه، في لحظة فقدنا بيت الأحلام اللي انتقلنا عليه قبل ٦ سنين بعدما قضى والدي (٥٠ سنة) حياته وهو يعمل ليتمكن من شرائه وما زال يسدد ثمنه أقساط للبنك حتى يومنا هذا، في لحظة فقدنا كل ذكريات البيت وعلى فكرة لا يُوصف الشعور ولا يُحكى ولا يخفف بمقولة (يا ريت كلشي زي الحجر) هذا الحجر عُمر! عُمرّ لمن بناه وعُمرّ لمن عاش فيه، أتذكر أننا ترددنا كتير كيف نقول لأمي عن خبر البيت لأنها كانت تدعي دائماً أنه نرجع عالبيت بدون أن تفقد أحد منا أتذكر أنها حمدت ربنا أولاً ومن ثم بكت كثيراً وقالت (يا الله... من الصفر هنبدأ!). رحلة التشرد والنزوح شيء ٱخر لا يمكن وصفه من بيتنا في غزة إلى شقة صغيرة في خانيونس مع ٤٠ شخص من العائلة ثم إلى رفح في بيت قيد البناء وهذا أفضل شيء ممكن أي أحد يوفره في ظل الظروف المعيشية الصعبة جداً وعدم الأمان والقصف المستمر حتى في الأماكن الآمنة التي طلبوا منا اللجوء إليها. أما أنا (ريم زيدية، ٢٣ سنة) فبعد أن تخرجت فقدت فرصة حقيقية للعمل في مؤسسة حقوق إنسان في غزة بسبب الحرب. كُل الجهد الذي بذلته في سنين دراستي، والتطوع مع مؤسسات صحفية والتدريبات وحلمي بدراسة الماجستير والسعي للسفر للخارج كُل هذا حطمته الحرب وأصبحت أحلامي مستحيلة. لا يوجد كلمات كافية لوصف حجم القهر والانكسار الذي في قلوبنا أو حتى وصف ما حصل معنا في الأشهر الأربعة الأخيرة. لذلك نحن بحاجة لمساعدتكم لنتمكن من إعادة بناء حياتنا بعيداً عن الحرب والدمار، مساهمتكم مهمة كتير بالنسبة لنا وبإمكانها أن تصنع فرق في حياتنا حتى نقدر على تأسيس حياة أفضل لنا وتأمين مستقبلنا. تأكدوا بأن المبلغ الذي سيتم تجميعه سيذهب لمساعدة عائلتي المكونة من ٨ أفراد، لذلك أنا أطلب منكم مساعدتنا والوقوف معنا في أكثر أوقات حياتنا صعوبة.
