Recovery Fund for Thaddeus’s Home
Donation protected
We’re starting this fundraiser for our father/father-in-law, Thaddeus. Thaddeus lost his home of 30+ years to Hurricane Laura on August 27th, 2020. Two trees collapsed through the center of his mobile home, completely destroying the walls, the roofing, and letting in all of the elements, which destroyed priceless memories, cherished possessions, and basic necessities.
Thaddeus is a veteran and a well known member of his community. He is caring, thoughtful, and goes above and beyond for his loved ones - and even those he just met. He drove 3 hours one-way to bring a generator to his daughter so that her disabled friend wouldn’t be without power when the hurricane hit, putting himself out, without a second thought. Now that the roles are reversed and he’s the one who needs assistance, our goal is to, at the very least, put a roof back over his head and hopefully replace some basic needs - like the bed that was the cushion for a tree falling through his bedroom wall.
We understand that there is a lot of struggle going on in the world right now, but we appreciate any help anyone is able to contribute! Ideally we would like to get him into a new place and settled by the end of the year, as he’s currently considering staying in a tent beside his destroyed home, afraid of losing what little he still has in tact within it. We have aimed high due to how much was lost but any of what we manage to raise will go into helping to get Thaddeus back on his feet and back to being his active, beloved self.
Thank you!
