Recovery for the VanHouten Family
Donation protected
This morning, the VanHouten family, who live in Oakland, suffered a terrible house fire and lost much of their belongings and 2 baby goats along with their pet hedgehog. At this point, the Red Cross and the City of Oakland have mobilized to help, and the family does have insurance, but there are so many things that they will be in desperate need of in the next 24 hours and the coming weeks: Bedding, clothing, meals, gas cards, a place to stay (preferable in Oakland as they have a barn full animals that still need their care everyday) etc. Their kids are active in dance, wrestling, football, FFA, and much more, but all of their shoes, clothes and equipment for these activities are lost or damaged as well.
They are life-long 4-Hers in Douglas County and have served our community so much over the years. We just want to come around them as a community and help them as they sort through all the details in the coming weeks. Thankfully, none of the family were injured. But let's lift them up in prayer and help monetarily if we can! Please share this on Social Media!
