Recovery from Harvey
Donation protected
Hurricane Harvey hit my family and the community of Kingwood, TX in a bold way. This is the first floor of the home my mom Debbie, stepdad Olivier, brother Myles,
sister Olivia, and two greyhounds Clay and Peaches have lived in for the past 9 years. Water came into the house first through the toilets and bathtub then from river flowing down the quiet suburban street. My family was lucky, everyone was safe with friends before things turned for the worse.
The work towards recovery is slow and difficult. But my family is strong and will continue go with the flow life. Once the flood subsides, the first floor will have to be redone from scratch. My stepdad's equiment for his electrical company has mostly been destroyed and will have to be replaced.
My family has never asked for help before, nor have they ever experienced a disaster like this. We are working with our insurance company and FEMA to get the assistance we need, but we will need additional funds for clean up, relacing damaged property and the daily expenses as we rebuild our life.
