Rebuilding Small Business in Minneapolis

In November of 2019 I moved from Houston, TX to Minneapolis, MN for an opportunity to own a business.
My Cricket store (On Chicago Ave), a small minority owned business in Minneapolis was LOOTED, VANDALIZED and BURNED DOWN between May 27 to 30, 2020. The business complex and neighboring businesses were also burned down.
On the night of May 27 through the 29, we watched from our security cameras as people walked in and out of our store, taking what they wanted and trashing what they did not find useful. We felt a strange sense of vulnerability as people vandalized and stole from us, and all we could do was watch.
The following day, there were many volunteers that helped us clear up some of the mess. A sense of hope came over seeing strangers help. It was heartbreaking to see our store so bare, so broken.
The next day we lost access to the cameras. A friend called saying the building was on fire. And just like that, everything that we worked for turned into ash. We hoped the insurance would cover our losses, but learned they will not provide enough to rebuild. We will need $60,000 in order to start over.
With $60,000 we will:
· Rebuild and replace fixtures, equipment, and product
· Provide assistance to our employees who will be experiencing loss of income until we are able to open again
We support the protesters and believe the outrage is justified. We cannot keep loosing lives. These are tough times for our country and change cannot come soon enough. We must stop the hate, and spread love instead. We hope you will help us rebuild and be and integral part of our beloved city again.
