Rebuilding life abroad for four sibling medical students

War shattered our dreams, but not our determination. In the heart of Gaza lies a story of resilience and hope amidst the ruins of conflict.

My name is Adel Alkhaldy,a third-year medical student from Gaza studying at Al-Azhar University. On the fateful day of 7/10 six months ago, our lives were turned upside down by the brutal war that destroyed our home, our university, and our future,taking the lives of several members of my family and friends.

I am not alone in this struggle. My sister Iman, who is also studying medicine, my brother Mohammed pursuing engineering, and my sister Aya who just completed her dental studies last July, Aya was supposed to start her internship to obtain her professional license, but our universities and training hospitals like Al-Shifa and Al-Indonesi were bombed into ruins.

Now, we are left with no choice but to seek education abroad, despite the exorbitant costs of travel and course equivalency. The path ahead is uncertain, but our determination to succeed in our chosen fields remains unwavering.

Their fundraising goal of $100.000 reflects the following ways the funds will be needed and spent:

-broker fee per person to safely cross through the Rafah border crossing into Egypt ($5k $10k per person)

-immediate survival expenses: food/water, clothing, shelter, toiletries, health expenses

-tuition for four siblings’ continued study in medicine

-fees (about 2.9% each) for GoFundMe and PayPal

اسمي عادل الخالدي، طالب طب في السنة الثالثة من غزة وأدرس في جامعة الأزهر.

في اليوم المشؤوم 7/10 قبل ستة أشهر، انقلبت حياتنا رأسًا على عقب بسبب الحرب الوحشية التي دمرت بيتنا وجامعتنا ومستقبلنا، وأودت بحياة العديد من أفراد عائلتي وأصدقائي

أنا لست وحدي في هذا الصراع. أختي إيمان التي تدرس الطب أيضًا، وأخي محمد يدرس الهندسة، وأختي آية التي أكملت للتو دراسة طب الأسنان في يوليو الماضي، كان من المفترض أن تبدأ آية تدريبها للحصول على الرخصة المهنية، لكن جامعاتنا ومستشفياتنا التدريبية مثل مستشفى الشفاء والإندونيسي تم قصفهما وتحويلهما إلى أنقاض

والآن، لم يعد أمامنا أي خيار سوى السعي للحصول على التعليم في الخارج، على الرغم من التكاليف الباهظة للسفر ومعادلة الدورات. إن الطريق أمامنا غير مؤكد، ولكن تصميمنا على النجاح في المجالات التي اخترناها لا يزال ثابتا
