Rebuilding Bruce

As many of you know, Bruce was involved in a traumatic softball accident in the afternoon on Sunday, August 6, 2017. He was going in for a play, as was another teammate. Bruce was diving head first for the ball. His teammate jumped to avoid the collision but unfortunately the efforts were unsuccessful. Bruce took his knee to the face and fractured every bone in his face except his forehead. He was admitted to shock trauma on Sunday and we left Tuesday night as Bruce didn't have a room & couldn't rest comfortably. Bruce's hit was just a few centimeters shy of killing him.
The left side is worse than the right as you can see from the photo. Bruce underwent 12 hours worth of reconstructive face surgery. The doctor wasn't happy with the way the left side of his face turned out the first time so he went back in and re-did that side. We still aren't sure how that side is going to heal. If the doctor and Bruce are unhappy with the left side of his face once he's healed up, Bruce will need to go back in for surgery.
There's a lot of unknowns as far as what post recovery will be like. The doctors always forewarn you of the worse case scenarios so here they are: The worse case would be that the left side of his face will never be "the same." We are talking millimeters but it could be significant enough to notice. Due to the extensive fracture, this could be a life long procedure to some degree. He could need to undergo surgery further down the road. We aren't sure about how his eyes will adjust once the swelling goes down and everything is back into its place. He could have to undergo eye surgery to the ligaments in the back of his eyes. His vision is great at the moment but they're saying it can change once the swelling goes down and things shift around. We aren't sure if that will mean glasses, contacts, etc. either. His neck didn't suffer from any serious injugry but they're unable to tell if the tendons and ligaments are damaged. His teeth are his top concern at the moment. They aren't "stable" in their respective places. He can feel them moving around. He will more than likely need extensive dental care once his jaw is firmly in place. His jaw his currently wired shut for 4-6 weeks, maybe more.
The medications he needs to take are hard to find and extremely expensive since they have to be in liquid form. Meaning, we have to get most of it from the hospital directly and they don't accept insurance at the hospital pharmacy. Bruce has a high deductible health insurance plan. The part we are most concerned about are his teeth and needing to undergo extensive dental care post recovery. We are estimating his bills, based off his insurance plan, will be around $15,000.
As many of you know, we are getting married next June and have lots of payments due. Bruce and I both just came off some major bills on top of what we have ahead and regularly. We've never been people to ask for help from others but we know it's going to be necessary. Any amount helps . We appreciate your donations, love, support and prayers more than you will ever know!
