The Aftermath of the Storm

On March 14, category-3 Cyclone Idai ripped through Mozambique. With its 120 mph winds, it destroyed nearly everything in its path, including the lives of thousands of people. Now millions of survivors are tasked with rebuilding their entire society from nothing, with nothing. 

During such times, many people turn to churches to seek hope, guidance, and strength to carry on the work of rebuilding. The church becomes the center of the community and can not only bring hope and salvation, but tangible support and relief in the middle of the chaos outside. But there’s one problem - the churches are gone. 



Restoring Churches, Restoring Lives

The Mozambican pastors and churches wasted no time in their response. They began raising funds internally to rebuild and are leading this charge. But their funds were not quite enough. Equip Mozambique launched a grant program matching whatever the churches were able to raise from our ministry finances that poured in following the disaster.

Eleven churches have been rebuilt and have resumed their work of reaching their communities and bringing God’s presence and love here on earth. But we’ve barely scratched the surface and there are many more churches who need your help!



A Little Help, a Huge Impact

It only takes $1,000 to put an entire roof back on a medium-sized church building, but it’s impact is immeasurable. As they say - every penny counts.
