Hello. We’re the Rebel Wheeler's!
We help people with disabilities play sport. We focus on ability not disability. We’re 100% run by volunteers and are desperate to help more people. This Christmas, together with Cork on Ice, we’re asking you to help. Every donation helps pay for specialized sports chairs and hall hire and brings so much happiness to our members.
Playing sport has had a tremendous impact on the lives of some of our Wheeler's and we’d like to share their stories with you.
Sandra: Dylan’s diagnosis changed our lives. He was a normal 9-year-old and we had the same expectations for Dylan that everyone else has for their own kids. I’m a very positive person but I had to dig deep to find the strength to give Dylan the support he needed to face his challenges. The Rebel Wheeler's helped me find that strength. Dylan is a normal 16-year-old. Our normal is challenging but that’s what mothers do…..
Jerry: I don’t know how we would have managed without The Rebel Wheeler's the impact on Darragh has been huge he is very quiet and reserved.... more than the physical benefits the mental and wellbeing has hugely helped Darragh grow and become more confident in school and everyday life.
Orla: Cormac has grown in confidence, has made lots of new friends and continues to grow in strength. Most importantly, the need for medical intervention (surgery and Botox) has been significantly reduced and Cormac is currently pain-free
All of the monies raised will be used to purchase much-needed equipment such as basketball chairs, rugby chairs and athletics equipment, along with hall hire, it will also allow us to extend our strength and movement program to cater for even more kids.
