Hi! My name is Andrea and I am an elementary teacher. This will be my ninth year as a classroom teacher. I have worked in New Hampshire, Virginia, and now work in Pennsylvania. I am currently working at a wonderful charter school in the Lehigh Valley area. This school is unique in that we teach under the International Baccalaureate Program. This program teaches students how to be critical thinkers, well-adjusted citizens, and caring humans who understand and respect each other's differences in the world. All the teachers are extremely hard workers who truly care about their students. I consider myself fortunate to work with such wonderful co-workers and students.
As you know, this year looks very different because of the ongoing pandemic. I am currently teaching a third grade online-only class. It has been challenging and time-consuming to create all the assignments for the students. If I can't create something, I am usually buying an activity, which can add up very quickly!
I am asking for donations to buy a yearly subscription from the site, guidedreaders.com. This program will give my students a year's worth of books to read. The books are differentiated to meet each student's individual needs. There are activities that go along with each book so students can work on their phonics, comprehension, and vocabulary skills. I can also track each student's progress so I can constantly adjust my teaching to meet their needs. It is also helpful during parent/teacher conferences to have evidence of each student's progress.
Please give the gift of reading to my students! I would be so grateful to provide such a wonderful program to my students!
