Donation protected
We are the warriors cyclists.
PLEASE READ OUR LATEST UPDATE.
We are now raising to Enter the UCI World Championships in Zurich September 21st.
We are also raising to replace our stolen race bikes.
We really need your help urgently! To raise the remaining funds.
Thank you, everyone.
My name is Mina Mohammadi and my teammate is Arefa Amini. Arefa is competing in the Asian Road Cycling Championships on June 5th 2024 - 12th held this year in Kazakstan. We are two young women who have fought hard for freedom and our rights as women to cycle.
We are both passionate cyclists and without our wheels, we would be lost. All rights as women in our home country were taken from us. Late October 2022 we arrived in the UK after escaping the Taliban in fear for our lives, because we were female sportswomen. Just in one day, all our cycling dreams were crushed. We felt broken and dehumanised just for loving sport. We now have a new life again thanks to the British public and the UK government. We consider this a great honour. Thank you.
Please watch our story on BBC Breakfast.
Female cyclists who fled the Taliban
Since arriving in the UK, the girls have been training daily. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-64556265
To follow our dreams we study at Brunel University and train daily under the guidance of our wonderful coaches ‘ Dave George’ and Iffat Tejani, with the support of kind volunteers from the charity 'Help Children Now’ who supported and successfully campaigned for our resettlement into the UK.
We are truly inspired by the Great British Cycling teams and appeal for your help.
As refugees, we need public support to enter the races. The cost of the flight, race, hotel, bike, accessories and kit is £2,860. I would be most grateful if you can support Arefa to enter this race.
Hello, I am Arefa, I want to write a message, my English is not perfect. For those of you who follow the warrior's story, you know that as female cyclists. We escaped in the middle of the night and had to leave our families behind. Unfortunately, a fellow female cyclist and volleyball player was beheaded by the Taliban in November 2021. All female cyclists bikes were ceased and burned leaving us afraid. But we persevered under tremendous struggles and now hope to cycle for every female cyclist left behind. Without your kind support, I cannot enter the race in Kazakstan.
My ultimate goal is to keep training and to improve my race points to qualify to enter the 2028 Olympics we cannot do this without your generosity.
Each year we must enter race trials and International races where possible. To save costs we only enter one race entrant and take it in turns with International races. Being an athlete and student it's expensive the only way is to obtain a sponsor or to raise money via GoFundMe.
Please donate what you can afford and share this with your friends who may wish to support me. Being a professional athlete takes commitment and great skill and above all, it costs money. We can only afford to do this with your generous donations.
In 2023 we competed in the following races internationally.
The Asian Road Cycling championships held in Thailand.
And I competed in the UCI World Championships held in Glasgow. August 2023
Please help me fund the cost of my cycling entry into the Asian Road Cycling Championships - 2024. June 5th - 12th June.
