I have been prompted to do this after my twitter post in the hope I can raise funds to help me out of the situation I am in.
I have been a Singer Entertainer and I have had little to no help from the Government. I am one of 3m Excluded. I have not done a Gig since 14th March 2020 and I had a NYE Gig 31st December in a nice Hotel. That Gig was worth £500 to me not a huge amount but when all you have been getting is £73 per week it was a life saver.
Having £1.12 in your account with 1st of Jan looming with Rent and Bills is a position I did not expect to be in. Unless you have lost all income and had your business closed and the business venues you perform in also close you have no idea. I live alone with my little dog Charlie so there is no second income.
All I want to do is work. I do not wish to be a burden on anyone. I need help and I have been far too proud to ask for any. I have not sat around being Idol waiting for things to fall in to my lap. I have updated my CV applied for positions and most of which have not even had the decency to respond.
In May of 2020 I took the decision to Diversify and retrain through local college offering Level 2 and Level 3 funded courses. I have taken and qualified in level 2 & 3 Counselling and I am in the middle of level 4 which I have loaned some money off a friend to pay for the course. I've also taken and qualified in short courses that has led to ofqual accredited qualifications.
The reason I am looking for help is to support me over the next few months until the Singing work comes back hopefully around April May time. I love singing to an audience and world is very dull without Music. My favorite venues are the Care Homes the joy on the faces when a Dementia patient responds to a song is just so heart warming.
I`d love to be able to pay this kindness forward. If I can raise enough money I would like to take the Open University degree course so I can help people who are struggling with their Mental Health especially Young People and Those Suffering Grief and Loss. I can do this alongside the Singing when eventually hospitality returns. Life without live music would be unthinkable
