Hi everyone! On October 10, 2020, my 8 year old pup Leyla had an accident where she got too excited by the sight of another dog, jumped up and fell a short distance to the floor. Unfortunately, she landed badly on her hind right leg and ended up popping her knee out of its socket. The vet also notified us that she actually has a condition called "luxating patellas" which means that her knee caps easily move out of place on their own (she was born with it) but normally would just pop right back into place. But this just means that her knees are more sensitive to falls and such, plus there's her older age to take into account. Currently, Leyla is unable to go up the stairs at home or do anything that requires putting weight on her leg. She is eating and acting normal but must be in a lot of pain. Right now we are treating her pain and inflammation with strroooong meds, but the only permanent fix for her leg is surgery.
For the surgery, she would need scans and a consultation with an orthopedic surgeon, plus the meds for after the surgery. In total, I was given an estimate of anything from $3500-4000. The price is dependant on the scans and whether or not she tore any tendons in the fall. If you know me and/or Leyla, you know that she is my BABY and if you are close to me, you may already know that she has had a rough few months and has had to have SEVERAL visits to the vet for other health reasons since she was spayed in July 2020. She is still currently being treated for a skin condition and gets injections every couple of months. I'm a full-time student and I just started a new job about a month ago after being laid off for some time, so money's tight. As of right now, I am figuring out how to come up with the funds to even be able to schedule the consultation. So I decided to make this GoFundMe for friends and family that might want to help out with her medical bills so that we can get our girl back outside chasing squirrels. Any donation, even $1, will be extremely extremely extremely appreciated.
