RBA: Ray of Hope
Donation protected
Rochester Beacon Academy (RBA), is a public charter school that was created by the parents of children with special needs who felt that their kids needed a smaller learning environment, with more adult supports than what Rochester's large public school system could offer. In September of 2015, RBA opened its' doors for the first time to 75 students in middle and high school.
By year 2, enrollment had swelled to almost double, also doubling the amount of support staff needed to maintain a 5:1, student to staff ratio.
Thanks to your support and donations, summer of 2017, we moved into a new facility with lots of room to grow. The only thing missing in our new place, is a gym. A space dedicated to helping our students learn the benefits of physical activity would be another area of programming that would make RBA the best place in SE Minnesota for children to come and truly feel accepted, welcomed, and challenged, so that they may become successful members of their community!
