Ray Anderson Carousel Commemorative Plaque

Ray Anderson was a kind, dedicated hard worker who touched many lives over his career of 19+ years while working at the Toledo Zoo. Originally hired to work in the Parking Lot, Ray found his place in working the Amusement Rides at the Zoo including the Historic Train and Historic South Carousel, African Animal Carousel and the Safari Railway Train Ride in Africa!  Ray served as the #2 Amusement Rides Supervisor, and was tasked with facilitating a safe and enjoyable work environment for both guests and staff alike.

He was many things to many different people. To the public, he was known as the "Man who Runs the Train", while to his staff, he was known as the firm but loveable "Ray the Supervisor." He always knew how to put a smile on the face of his employees, coining countless phrases that he would say time and time again like "We need more of the appeal like a Zebra" and "We will be on the ready."

Ray Anderson passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 7th after a Cancer diagnosis.

This GoFundMe campaign is set up to collect donations for an animal plaque on the African Animal Carousel to commemorate Ray and his impact at the Toledo Zoo over his 19+ years of service. That way, he will forever be a part of the Zoo Community who he loved and cherished being a part of.
