Hello,
I am an upcoming Photographer. I am a US Army Veteran, wife and mother. I use photography as a therapeutic outlet and hope to share this with other Veterans as well as those struggling with finding an outlet.
I will be collaborating an exhibit with Frank Lee Ruggles and the Virginia War Memorial Veterans Art Gallery this coming summer. This exhibit will feature Franks work as well as mine. We hope to bring forth the majesty of America’s Sacred places of our National Parks and battlefields. We want to paint a picture of American spirit and history that connects us all and must continue to be protected.
My photography started as a hobby and has grown to so much more including bringing awareness to America's beauty and history. For me, photography is all about self-therapy. I’ve used the camera as a tool to overcome my stress, my social anxiety, and as a way of creative self-expression. I think photography is healing your soul. About finding more appreciation in life in the beauty around you. About finding beauty in the ordinary.
Photography has given me a creative outlet as well. Before photography, I had no way to express myself creatively. I (like many others out there) was born an artist, but had no skills to draw. When I discovered photography, it opened up my world to seeing the world in a unique way, and feeling more connected with the world.
Therapeutic Photography I believe can and is playing a very important lead role in how mental health can be helped it has the power to change the world, it is changing the world because it sure changed mine.
All funds raised will be used directly for high quality prints, frames, matting, and any other items needed just for the exhibit. Every small donation helps.
