Randy’s Medical and Support Fund

Hi, never in a million years would I have imagined I’d have to do this. My biggest nightmare truly has come true. On October 28, 2022 around 1pm CST my father Randy Jakobitz had onset stroke like symptoms- slurred speech, confusion, left side weakness, and a small facial droop. Luckily he was not alone and 911 was called, because of this he is alive. He was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital where he was given TNKase and a thrombectomy was performed that ultimately was deemed not successful. The imaging demonstrated “a small posterior superior right frontal subarachnoid hemorrhage in addition to a developing large right MCA infarct” - from my understanding his entire right side of his brain is damaged from the stroke. He developed a midline shift that ultimately caused the final decision that he needed a hemicraniectomy, from there my father was airlifted from SHH to Mayo Clinic Rochester- Saint Mary’s Campus and emergency surgery went underway.

My boyfriend Mike and I were in Florida at Universal Studios when I got the call, we flew home the next day to be with my father. Myself and family have been staying at a nearby hotel to be close with my dad, also driving back and forth. I wanted to start this gofundme to aid us all financially so we can be here for my dad as well as any medical bills he may have.

Currently we are on day 4 going into day 5 of his stroke, we are hoping his brain swelling has hit its peak as there are no significant changes from his CT scans the last 2 days. My dad is currently on a ventilator and being kept sedated, we are absolutely terrified but we are remaining hopeful and praying for a miracle. Randy is only 55 years old, he enjoys fishing, watching the Vikings play, seeing my brother Max grow up, bugging me about grandkids, cracking dad jokes- the list goes on. He is my best friend and I need him here with me, I need to be here with him. If he was awake, he would be so grateful for the love that has been shown for him already.
