Rami Diaz Cooper Family

---------------------------------
It is with great sadness that I am posting this update. Ms. Rami Diaz-Cooper found her final peace yesterday, August 9, 2018. She fought so very hard to stay on this earth so she could finish raising Diego, her 16-year old son. Unfortunately, she lost her battle with breast cancer.

Rami passed with all of the love in the world around her. Her family took great care of her until she moved on. Please keep Rami's family in your prayers during this very difficult time.

Arrangements are being made and Rami’s gofundme drive is still active and will continue to collect funds to pay for her final service.   More details with follow.

I want to thank everyone for helping my friend though this very difficult journey through donations.  Rami was able to stay in her home until she passed.

Some people walk into our lives for a moment but stay in our hearts forever.  Rest in peace my beautiful friend.

In Rami's Words....
Greetings to all of you out there.  For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Rami Diaz-Cooper (it’s a name no-one forgets) and at the encouragement of my co-workers Jackie Gentilini and Zeodiann James, we are putting this GoFundMe page together for my benefit.  I’m a 55 year "young" single mother – my son, Diego, is 15 and in high school - and we live in the Washington, DC metro area (DMV).  I’m a mother, sister, aunt, great-aunt, a great-great aunt, and I’m always collecting other people’s children along the way.  In all my life I’ve never been sick or in-and-out of the hospital but I’ve been diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer (Invasive Ductal Carcinoma) – triple negative.  By the grace of GOD, besides my left breast, the cancer initially had only gone to two lymph nodes and nowhere else.

For the past 6 months I’ve been doing chemotherapy – the very aggressive AC regimen followed by what they call baby chemo (Taxol).  I’ve tolerated everything very well and continued to work during this entire time – just being off for chemo.  The chemo managed to shrink the tumor down considerable from 12cm to almost nothing (but it still hadn’t pulled away from my chest cavity wall in order for the surgeon to have a better chance in getting it all without having to take some of my chest cavity wall out) – and my lymph nodes have shrunk with no cancer present in them. We targeted September for surgery.  However, the tumor (or Quatto as I call it) got resistant to the baby chemo and started to grow again, so we are back to square one.  The doctors are putting together a different, stronger chemo regimen for me but I’m not sure if I’ll tolerate the treatments like I did the first time around.

The goal is to raise as much financial support as possible to help for at least 6 months’ time and to get the word out nation-wide to all of my family and friends (DMV area, Baltimore, MD, New York, Canada, Las Vegas, NV, San Diego, CA, Albuquerque, NM, Dallas/Mexia/Groesbeck, TX - - all my Pepco, GW, WMATA/Metro, Johnson Controls Federal Systems, Powertek friends and my All Saints Episcopal Church, Chevy Chase, MD family) - everyone.  These funds will help pay for life insurance payments, medical insurance deductibles, co-pays for doctor’s visits, medicine, medical supplies, and help bridge the gap for rent and food when I can’t go to work; especially when I get to surgery and recovery.  Anything and everything will help, so no amount is too small.  If all you can give are prayers then I’ll take that most of all!

Every day, people ask me – How do you keep a smile on your face and always laughing.  Its simple – GOD has allowed me to wake up and change the things that I can change and to know what I can’t and to put it in his hands for him to take care of.  I’m blessed by the people that I love and those that love me – I’m encouraged – you be encouraged!

Diego and my love to all of you…
