Ralph's Promise - In sickness and in health

On Friday November 13th, 2020 33-year old Audrey suffered a massive stroke which resulted in extensive brain damage. Not expected to live more than 72 hours in ICU, Audrey is still fighting like she has for so many years.
One month ago, Audrey began dialysis treatment. Ralph's only option was to take a leave of absence from his job in order to care of Audrey.
It's a funny story how they met. 11 years ago, Ralph took a liking to the lady behind the counter with the sarcastic sense of humour. His pick up line? According to Audrey it was, "Hey, do you like ninjas?" And she was hooked.
Although she rolled her eyes at his jingles and groaned when he played the
Wookie song, a smile always tugged at the corner of her lips. Their love carried them through more than their share of hardships, especially as Audrey's health declined due to complications with Type 1 diabetes, severe migraines and gastroparesis. Ralph was her best friend, her true love, her caregiver. Neither of them thought this would be their life, but they were committed to each other.
On Sunday, November 15th, 2020 a symbolic marriage ceremony was held for Ralph and Audrey. Ralph was able to fulfill his promise to Audrey, represented by her mom, Eydie, as Chaplain Jim led family, friends and ICU staff through a beautiful and bittersweet ceremony as Audrey lay in a coma.
