Hi Team,
2018 is going to be the last year for Ralph Frid at Cox Communications and we wanted to send him out with a bang. Some of you may not know, but Ralph is actually a sponsor for Alicia Sanchez Elementary in the town of Lafayette, CO.
Alicia Sanchez Elementary sits in an area of Colorado where the average household income is about $40K or less. To give a snapshot of the situation these students face as they try to learn, live, and succeed; the school has over a 78% free or reduced lunch rate which means without the free and reduced lunch program about ~300 students of the ~400 students would not eat lunch every day. That being said, these kids and families have a lot of heart, the school boasts a 95% attendance rate, and the staff is extremely hard working. Not only does the staff teach, but they go the extra mile through researching what similar schools do, studying TED Talks, etc. in efforts to do all they can to boost the school's performance. One teacher who was recognized for her drive said in an interview, "We're not going to be happy until 100 percent of our students are reading at grade level and at proficiency in the other subject areas."
Ralph is a sponsor of the school and they have an internal non-profit that is built to benefit the school as a whole through the establishment of a school-based community center that provides academic and social support for those families that are living in poverty. Even in his retirement Ralph is still working to make a difference through making these children's lives better. This funding campaign goes well beyond a gift to a co-worker, but is really a gift to better the lives and learning environment for these students in need. If we're lucky we may even get some future co-workers through this gift as well. So, if you have a couple of dollars to spare after the holidays, there's a couple of kids that would really appreciate the donation.
