Rally for the Rooneys: Support for Scott’s Cancer Battle

Dearest Friends, Family, and Kindhearted Strangers,

We write to you with heavy but hopeful hearts to ask for your support for our beloved Scott Rooney. Scott, at just 42 years young, has recently been diagnosed with an aggressive stage 4 colon cancer.

After months of medical visits, and waiting to be seen by specialists in hopes to receive answers to the pain impacting Scott’s daily quality of life, this diagnosis came abruptly and devastatingly. An ER visit on Feb 24th, set in motion the shocking answers that no family is prepared to hear.

It was discovered that Scott had a very large, malignant tumor. The invasive cancer had metastasized and already spread through parts of his intestine, liver, and stomach. In the immediate days to follow, he underwent major surgery to remove the tumor. Unfortunately, just a few weeks post-op, a complication led to a life-threatening infection and Scott was rushed into a 2nd emergency surgery. After two critical procedures and hospital stays just weeks apart, Scott has already, and bravely endured a lot, with his family at his side. Gratefully, he is currently healing at home and preparing for the next leg of this difficult journey. His medical team of experts are planning to start chemotherapy as soon as he’s recovered from surgery. Scott may also be a candidate for a clinical trial due to the specific mutation of the cancer. Doctors are determined to do everything they can to help Scott and we are determined as well. We’re calling on you to help rally for our Rooneys!

Please help us surround Scott and his family with the same love and support that they have always given to others. He and his loving wife Kara are a tremendous light in everyone’s lives. They do anything for anyone, no favor is too big or too small. Their exceptional generosity and compassion are undeniable trademarks. Along with their 17 year old son Kaden, Scott and Kara are the epitome of family, friendship, and unconditional love. Despite their fierce strength and unwavering determination, they have unimaginable obstacles ahead. Together, we can help lessen the strain of medical costs, allowing them to focus on what’s most important: spending precious moments together.

If you know Scott personally, you know that he touches the hearts of everyone he encounters with his infectious smile, upbeat energy, and his natural charisma. He effortlessly brings laughter, a mighty spirit, and incredible joy to any room that he’s in. To know him is simply to love him. He’s incredibly selfless, currently less concerned with his own prognosis and more concerned about his family and loved ones. Despite facing his own pain and difficult challenges ahead, he continues to radiate positivity, boundless courage, resilience, and of course, his witty humor.
