Rally for Rocco's Heart

On March 7, 2018 my beautiful grandson, Rocco Vincent Caiazza, was born prematurely by an emergency c-section after a difficult pregnancy for mom, Jenelle. He entered the world weighing in at 4lbs 15oz with a full head of hair! Rocco was rushed out the delivery room for some medical tests. His dad and mom, Adam and Jenelle, were overcome with anxious emotions. When the doctor returned, they sensed that the news was not good. They were told Rocco was born with a Congenital Heart Defect known as TGA, Transposition of the Great Vessels. His heart was not circulating his blood and oxygen properly. Arrangements were made to transport him to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, where he would ultimately receive open heart surgery.
Jenelle remained hospitalized in Erie leaving Adam the agonizing decision of staying with his wife or going to Pittsburgh to be with their son. Jenelle asked Adam to go and be with Rocco, so Adam and I drove to Pittsburgh not knowing what to expect.
Once in Pittsburgh Rocco had several procedures done to help the flow of his oxygenated blood. The procedures allowed him to gain weight and be a little older before he received surgery. It was hard to see this adorable child connected to so many machines.
Jenelle was released from the hospital in Erie 2 days later and Adam rushed to bring her to Pittsburgh to be with their son. They have been by Rocco's side ever since.
On 3-21-18 open heart surgery was performed to correct the vessels of Rocco's heart. He's been in an induced coma since surgery with his tiny chest left open due to pressure and fluids. The medical team has been working to stabilize his blood pressure and it has been a tense few days. They were finally able to close his chest this morning, 3-25-18.
Adam and Jenelle are fortunate to have been provided affordable lodging at the Ronald McDonald House, as their stay in Pittsburgh will last several more weeks. They have also received help from Grady's Decision, an Erie based non-profit, with some of their expenses. Adam's coworkers at Auto Express , whom he considers family, have also stepped-up and done everything possible to make it possible for Adam to stay in Pittsburgh with his wife and son.
We are looking to raise funds for medical expenses. Although they have insurance they have already paid out a lot of money in co-pays for Jenelle's difficult pregnancy. Transportation alone for Rocco to go to Pittsburgh was $9,700. Seeing the level of excellent care Rocco is receiving, and all the machines and manpower it is taking to get Rocco over this hurdle, I imagine the medical bills are going to be astounding.
If you have room in your heart to help heal Rocco's heart, any donation would be greatly appreciated. Any donations received will be used to help defray the mounting medical bills. Should this campaign be successful any excess donations will be paid forward to help others in similar situations.
