Rally around Diane

My mom and best friend, Diane Rerick, was just diagnosed with stage 4 lung and liver cancer. She found out on her birthday that she has a mass on her lung and spots on her liver. She quickly had a liver biopsy and after an agonizing week of waiting she heard the words you have cancer. My parents have the affordable healthcare which is anything but affordable. Their insurance doesn't cover much and comes with a $13,000 deductible. It didn't even cover the cough syrup prescribed by her oncologist and it cost her $113.00! My dad had some health issues last year which left him unable to work for months and wiped out their savings. Mom will begin chemo on January 18th and is unable to work. The cost of chemotherapy can quickly exceed $200,000. My parents have a small home improvement business and it's just the two of them. Mom won't be able to work and dad will be busy caring for her and taking her to all appointments and treatments. That is going to put a significant strain on them financially. If you know my mom you know she is the most selfless person you've ever met. She is an INCREDIBLE wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. My parents are the most hard working, honest people I know. They never ever ask for help but they are now in a situation where they need it more than anything. The journey through chemo will be struggle enough without the added burden of financial stress. Our goal is to rally around Diane and raise the funds she needs for medical and everyday living expenses. Every dollar counts!
