Rally 4 Shaq
Donation protected
Shaq, a Pinecrest HS Senior and Football Player, is finally at home and getting settled after his August 25th ATV accident that led him to be transported to UNC Hospitals, and ultimately ended up amputating part of his arm.
"He knows there's a bigger plan for him. His family knows there's a bigger plan, and you see these boys and the love that they have for him, it's pretty special," said Chris Metzger, Pinecrest head football coach.
Shaq started back at his classes Monday and working out with the football team during their before school work outs. He is very positive and is determined to get back into his Senior year routines!
"Always expect the unexpected," Shaq said. "Stay true and loyal, and thank God everyday, because anything can happen."
Since the accident, Sheena, his mother, had to take a 3 month leave of absence to support Shaq's recovery which includes weekly trips to Chapel Hill for follow-up doctor appointments. Since this was not her injury, she does not qualify for FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act).
In the next month or two, he plans on getting a prosthesis.
Any money donated to Shaq and his family will go directly to support his medical journey.
