Raising the Roof for Linda

On 10/2, Linda had a massive stroke.  She was found somewhat unresponsive with slurred speech, unable to get up to even open her front door. She was rushed to Texoma Medical Center, where Dr's determined that she had a stroke which damaged the upper two-thirds of the right hemisphere of her brain. The left side of her body is flaccid and she is dealing with left-side neglect in her vision. 

This very vibrant, outgoing and at times very aggravating woman was - as of 2019 - working security in the South Texas oilfields and creating works of art. Today she is bedridden, working to restore some semblance of her life through intensive rehab. 

She will never do anything the same again.

We've been told to expect her left side to remain flaccid so she will need permanent full time care. Because we have only so much money, we are creating this GoFundMe in order to defray some of the costs of building onto our home a handicapped accessible "mother-in-law" suite for her. So far, we've completed the decking and the walls should go up in the next few days. Even though family members and friends of ours are working at greatly reduced pay, we still have to pay for materials and will be doing a lot of the interior ourselves. 

This is heartbreaking for us all, but we are determined to give her a warm welcoming place to come home to when her rehabilitation is done. Please help us to fund that
