My Croi 5km run
Donation protected
Hi my name is Tom (the tall guy on the right of the cover photo) although I am a non smoker, I was hit with stage 4 lung cancer in September 2022. It spread practically all over my body, particularly along my spine, pelvis and rib cage. 11 months on, thankfully I am now currently in remission, however there's still a long journey ahead of me. At one point the cancer left me unable to get out of bed or even walk, there was a high chance even I might have to be confined to a wheelchair. This scared the hell out of me as I played football and soccer and was (and still am) determined to get back on the pitch to play again in the future. Fortunately thanks to treatment I'm mobile, getting active again and I've been back running since April slowly building my strength and in August 2023 I completed three 5km runs. Now I want to give something back to the people who have helped me in my recovery. I'll be running at the croi galway 5k which is held at night on Friday 13th of October along the Salthill prom. Please support as proceeds will be going towards the oncology ward in Ballinasloe hospital to help patients like me get the treatment they need and more.
