Hey, my name is Kristen and I'm looking at raising funds for my MS journey. On March 16th, 2023 I was diagnosed with MS (multiple sclerosis) which I then learned I had been dealing with it the last 8 years. It went so long without being diagnosed because the doctors didn't believe me enough when I said there was something more going on to do any further testing outside doing x-ray for my knee, which always came back showing there was no new injuries. I found out because I ended up having a fall that brought me into the ER on March 8th. Initially I was thinking it was from a bad knee from when I had ACL repair surgery. They were just going to send me home until a physician that would finally listen to me said that she agreed that something more had to be going on. They then ran a bunch of labs, CT scans, and then finally an MRI on my head and neck after consulting with a neurologist. There they noticed I had plaque on my brain and in my neck that was consistent with MS. I then had a few more MRI done on my upper and lower lumbar and also a lumbar puncture to draw out fluids to test which then gave me the definitive answer that yes I had MS. After that I learned that it had nothing to do with having a bad knee and had all to do with me having MS. I'm raising funds to cover equipment I will need that insurance doesn't cover. They will cover a wheelchair but that's about it. I need what's called a sit and stand, that will help me get up with the help of someone else to then help push me to say like the bathroom. Also I'm needing to get a hospital bed for my downstairs as I won't be able to go upstairs to my own bed. As of 3/30/2023 I'm still in the hospital with hopes of getting out in next few weeks.
