Raising money to distribute masks in Morocco!

Goal: To deliver 1,000 masks to poor families in Morocco who need them for safety and to avoid paying fines for not having masks on.


Along with social distancing and proper sanitation and handwashing, masks have been our biggest weapons against Covid as we await the vaccine. Knowing the importance of wearing masks to prevent the spread of Covid, many governments have made wearing one mandatory. To enforce this policy, the Moroccan government made not wearing a mask a violation that can result in up to a 300 dirham, or 33 dollars, fine, which is more than three times the daily income of the median Moroccan household. Unfortunately, this has forced many to reuse extremely old and damaged masks for months simply to avoid the fines.  We plan to use 100% of the money that we fundraise to provide masks for those in need in Morocco.

In the midst of the covid-19 pandemic, the importance of masks has been made abundantly clear. It functions as a preventative measure to protect ourselves and our families by trapping virus droplets that otherwise  may have made their way into our respiratory system. More importantly, if someone were to have the virus, it helps in preventing the transmission from one person to another. It has been Recommended by the CDC and the WHO and we urge anyone reading this to maintain social distancing and to wear masks when in public or in gatherings.
