Andy's Top Surgery Care

Hey, y’all my name is Andy (They/Them), and I am reaching out for community support to cover my top surgery aftercare.

As this fundraiser is live, I will be undergoing surgery for gender-affirming care. I am still in shock that I will be able to have this life-changing opportunity, and like many trans people, the journey of getting here has not been easy. At some point, I had accepted that it would be impossible for me to get gender-affirming surgery, given my reality of constantly navigating multiple barriers. Even with a full-time job and multiple side hustles, it has been unattainable for me to get my top surgery until I got the opportunity to have my surgery covered by insurance. I am truly appreciative of this opportunity, as it will take off the pressure of navigating my full-time job and graduate school.

I have been organizing for over 10 years in grassroots, people-led movements, and while I am always willing to support my community, it is hard for me to reach out for help. I know our communities are struggling, and the ongoing pandemics and health crises for queer, trans, gender non-conforming, and BIPOC people are never-ending. I am fortunate to have a support team fundraising on my behalf and helping take care of me.

This fundraiser will help cover living expenses, a team care provider, and medical expenses not covered by insurance. I will be unable to work for several weeks and will not have any income during that time. Unfortunately, I’m not able to qualify for a leave of absence, so I am asking all my fellow queers, colleagues, and loved ones to please share the fundraiser link and/or donate to help me reach my goal of $10,000.
